SPIRITUALITY is an individual’s personal walk with God and is ingrained, embedded
and nurtured in the fertile soil of the mind, including
emotions, intellect, and behavior.
1 Thessalonians 5:23 "Now may the God of peace Himself sanctify you completely;
and may your whole
spirit, soul, and body be preserved blameless at the coming
of our Lord Jesus Christ." "A legal religion can never lead souls to Christ;
for it is a
loveless, Christless religion. Our own works can never purchase salvation." E G White

THE SABBATH: “There is a deep need today to rediscover the gift of Sabbath. The need declares itself in the most intimate places of the human heart and in the broadest spheres of social and economic interchange. It asserts itself even where Sabbath is only a distant memory, even where the word ‘Sabbath’ is not known at all. Across barriers of age and culture, the need speaks, presses, makes itself known.” A Paper from the Office of Spiritual Formation, Presbyterian Church (USA).
"While others still slept, He went away to pray and to renew His strength in communion with His Father. He had need of this, otherwise He would not have been ready for the new day. The holy work of delivering souls demands constant renewal through fellowship with God." A. Murray
"The truth will set you free, but first it will make you miserable." J. Davis
Walking with Jesus ~ LOVE
John 3:16, 17 "For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him
should not perish but have everlasting life. For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world
through Him might be saved." Deuteronomy 6:5 “You shall love the LORD your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and
with all your strength.” Leviticus 19:18 “You shall love your neighbor as yourself. Luke 10:27 “So He answered and said, ‘You shall
love the LORD your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your strength, and with all your mind,' and 'your neighbor
as yourself.” This is an OT and NT teaching!
Walking with Jesus ~ GRACE
God’s GRACE is His joy and delight, favor and loving-kindness.
God is gracious and reaches out to humankind
by sending His only Son for our salvation. Deuteronomy 31:8 “The Lord is the one who goes
ahead of you;
He will be with you. He will not fail you or forsake you. Do not fear, or be dismayed.”
John 1:4 “In Him was life, and
the life was the light of men.” John 12:32 JESUS SAYS:
“And I, when I am lifted up from the earth, will draw all people to myself.”
Walking with Jesus ~ FAITH
FAITH is our belief, conviction and trust in the overcoming grace of God.
Habakkuk 2:4 “Behold the proud,
his soul is not upright in him; but the just
shall live by faith.” Galatians 3:26 “For you are all the children of God by
faith in Christ
Jesus." 2 Timothy 1:13 “Hold fast the pattern of sound words
which you have heard from me, in faith and love which are in Christ Jesus.”
Walking
with Jesus ~ JOY
Happiness is the fruit and result of salvation. Psalm 32:11 “Be glad in the
LORD and rejoice, you righteous; and shout
for joy, all you upright in heart!”
Read Matthew 5:1-12 = The ‘BE HAPPY ATTITUDES!’
Walking with Jesus ~ HOPE
Joyful and confident
expectation of eternal salvation. Our future is in eternity.
Romans 5:2 “Through whom also we have access by faith into this grace
in
which we stand, and rejoice in hope of the glory of God.” Colossians 1:27
“Christ in you the hope of glory.” Our hope is built on
Jesus’ righteousness!
Walking with Jesus ~ MERCY
God goes the extra mile to save us. Psalm 52:8 “I am like a green olive tree
in the
house of God: I trust in the mercy of God forever and ever.” Luke 18:13
“The tax collector, standing afar off, would not so much as
raise his eyes to
heaven, but beat his breast, saying, ‘God, be merciful to me a sinner!
Jesus said
"My grace is sufficient for you."
2 Corinthians 12:9
Wherever you may go in the world, on all continents, islands and in all cultures, Saturday is the seventh day, the original chronological Bible Sabbath that God made and gave to all humankind at Creation.
It is a free gift from God.
Walking with Jesus ~ GOODNESS
"And God saw everything that he had made, and behold, it was very good. And there was evening and
there was morning, the sixth day." Genesis 1:31 - 'good' is mentioned 14 times in the first three chapters of the Bible.
Good, pleasant and happy feelings are important to God. Jesus says in John 10: 11 "I am the good shepherd. The good Shepherd
lays down His life for the sheep." To be a good and upright person is a positive fruit of the Holy Spirit - see Ephesians
5:9.
Walking with Jesus ~ PEACE
Luke 2:14 "Glory to God in the highest, And on earth peace, goodwill toward men!" Our world,
country, homes and people are experiencing more turmoil and stress than ever before - real peace can only be found in the shelter
of the Rock Jesus.
Walking with Jesus ~ POWER
Romans 15:13 "Now the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing,
that
you may abound in hope, through the power of the Holy spirit."
Walking with Jesus ~ PRAYER
1 Peter 4:7 "The end of all things is
at hand; therefore be self-controlled and sober-minded
for the sake of your prayers." Prayer is more important than ever before - PRAY
to God the
Father through His Son Jesus Christ - for salvation, for safety, for healing, for your family
and for the miracles of life
that only God can give. Prayer is opening your heart and talking
to God like you talk to a friend.
Walking with Jesus ~ FREEDOM
The result of God’s love, grace and our faith are deeds, acts, behavior, and a lifestyle within the freedoms
of God’s law. Philippians 2:13 “For it is God who works in you both to will and to do for His good pleasure.”James 1:22 “But be
doers
of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves.” Also read John 14:15; Matthew 5:17-20
A FAITHFUL CHRISTIAN MARTYR
More than 1,700 years ago, about 20 miles north of the city of London, in the Roman city of Verulamium there lived a hospitable, kindhearted and compassionate citizen with the name of Alban. He believed in the Roman gods and worshipped the emperor. History tells us that by 300 years after Christ, the Christian gospel had reached the shores of Britain. One day Alban gave refuge to a Christian missionary who was fleeing from his enemies and persecution. Alban was so impressed by the goodness of this guest and by his prayers that he enthusiastically accepted the Gospel teaching and became a Christian. When the authorities discovered a few days later that the missionary was hiding in Alban's house, they sent soldiers to seize him. Without hesitation Alban put on the priest's clothes and gave himself up in his stead to be tried. The judge was furious with the deception and ordered that Alban should receive the punishment due to the missionary, if he had indeed become a Christian.
The judge asked Alban, "Of what family are you?" He answered, "That is a matter of no concern to you. I would have you know that I am a Christian." The judge persisted, and the new-born Christian said, "I was called Alban by my parents, and I worship the living and true God, the Creator of all things."
Then the judge said, "If you wish to enjoy eternal life, sacrifice to the great gods at once!" Alban replied, "You sacrifice to devils, who can bring no help or answer to the desires of the heart. The reward of such sacrifices is endless punishment in Hell." The judge was angered that he could not find the escaped missionary and threatened Alban with death if he persisted in being a Christian.
Alban replied resolutely that he had become a Christian, and would not burn incense to pagan gods anymore. He was condemned to be beaten and then beheaded. Alban became the first Christian martyr in England. I once took the thirty minute train ride from London to the city of St. Albans and visited this inspiring site where it all took place. Many have died for Jesus. Are you willing to live for Him? (FGS)
