THE ABC OF SALVATION
All have sinned and come short of the glory of God - Romans 3:23
Behold the Lamb of God, who takes away the sins of the world - John 1:29
Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give your rest - Matthew 11:28
DEPRESSION is much more than just having a bad day. It is a complicated, multifaceted and intricate neurobiology that cannot be turned on and off at will. Your whole self, lifestyle, body chemistry, behaviour, emotions and thoughts are changed. You enter into a world that feels dark, bad and upsets your total life. Real healing, change and positive enjoyment can eventually take place when the chemistry, thoughts and conduct is reversed back to normal.
These bad feelings and deep emotions of hurt are some of the most widely occurring events in the lives of persons these days. It seems as if not a single day passes without meeting someone who is complaining about hurt, struggle, being upset, disappointment or bad episodes in their lives, but we can learn all over again how to enjoy balanced healing living, sleeping, eating, working and recreation.
It is one of Satan’s demonic tools to persuade persons to have a low or negative self-image. Symptoms of a low self-image include staying away from other people; perfectionism; manipulating and controlling; jealousy; lack of trust; and aggressive behavior. A person who cannot trust himself cannot trust other people. Someone who feels out of control will try controlling other people such as his spouse, children or workers. This can happen sub-consciously or willfully.
If someone is given time to talk about things and see their life in a different perspective, they may opt for living. It is sometimes easier to die than to live. Life is a greater challenge than death. It is easy to die, but living takes a lot of hard work. It can be an adventure. The Bible challenge is to live a full, fruitful, and fulfilled life in Jesus as Lord and Savior. It may take some hurt and a lot of courage, but each day can be a new day of healing, health and hope. We all need to see our own lives in its full, naked, stark reality, and then lay it down at the foot of the Cross of Calvary. The Lord our Creator and Savior will help you pick up the pieces and start all over again.
Are you feeling sad? Not feeling good enough? Lonely? Many folks keep their hurt, loneliness, abuse and emotions inside. All of us experience stress, anxiety, depression or burnout sometime in our lifetime. We all learn wrong things, get hurt, make mistakes and fail - but you can pick up the pieces of your life anytime, and start a new lifestyle any day. You can experience healing, change, and growth. You only need to want to change and use the spiritual tools available. Your life may be hurting, but healing is available. The Word of God teaches that you can change the way you feel, think, and behave. Today you can begin a more loving and balanced lifestyle, and improve your personal relationships. The Bible teaches that an important function of Jesus’ mission on earth is to put together broken people. Maybe all the king's horses and all the king's men cannot put you together again, but the Creator and Savior of this planet can. If you will give Him all the pieces of your life, no matter how hurting, no matter how shameful, no matter how ugly, Jesus can do what no friend can do for you, no lover, no therapist, no medication, no family member, and no emotional anesthetic. Why? The answer is that He did what only He could do to deal with the root cause of all the brokenness in our world and that is the destroyer that God calls sin. God says “Repent, and let every one of you be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins; and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit” Acts 2:38. Sin always destroys and leaves behind the broken pieces. But God can save, heal, forgive and change!
